Bookaway

Since we have too many books and not enough time to read them, we've invited a few friends to join us in giving away books for free at www.bookaway.blogspot.com.

If you'd like a chance at winning some free books in the weeks and months ahead, be sure to bookmark the site or add it to your Google Reader account. Also, if you are interested in giving away some of your own books on the site, please let us know. We would welcome a few additional co-bloggers who have good taste in books.

Finally, please help us spread the word by telling others about Bookaway.

I just recently found a similar site for this too, if it will maybe help you unload books. It's www.swaptree.com.

It's probably more for traders than unloaders, but there's nothing to say you have to borrow something from someone! :O)

Hi Nicole. I think Swaptree is a great concept. But the challenge for me of giving away books on sites like Swaptree or selling them on Half.com or Amazon is related to those pesky requirements about having to mail the items within a certain number of hours after they've sold. Frequent trips to the post office (which I believe are still if you want to send something via media mail) are a hassle, especially when you can't control the timetable. With Bookaway I get around this problem by allowing 4-6 weeks for shipments (meaning only one trip to the post office per month or so).

Have you used Swaptree yourself yet? If so, let me know if I'm missing something re the hassle factor.
